GM Andrew Rolling’s Geneva Generals have a good base of young players led by Dylan Larkin and Colton Parayko, with seven forwards under 25 with PO ratings of 80 or higher, and two defensemen with the same qualities including Brandon Carlo and Parayko. If Rolling was looking for a long-term “need” then goalie seemed like…
With the 11th pick in the draft, Helsinki followed a recipe that really paid off for them earlier this week. They selected a prospect without attributes, namely point machine Henri Jokiharju, a defenseman with the Portland Winter Hawks in the WHL and property of the Black Hawks in the NHL. Earlier in the week, the…
The Krassnye Zvezdy, who in the past have favored Russians, went across the ocean and out of the Draft Guide to pick Morgan Frost 10th in the Season 9 Draft. The 18-year-old from Aurora, Ontario, was also a first-round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2017 and he spent the last season scoring 112 points…
Like Dublin – an island and a draft position away – The Edinburgh Capitals don’t have a lot in the box labeled “future talent.” They have two good young goalies, two good wingers in Mikko Rantanen and Sam Reinhart and centers Nolan Patrick and Scott Conway, but good use more young talent. They got more…
The Fighting Irish don’t have a lot of quality players under 25 years of age, so General Manager Gayle Rock could afford to take players at any position she wanted with the 8th pick in the Season 9 Draft, and she opted for a left wing. Calvin Thurkauf has good size and a knack for…
It was Bern’s turn to draft 7th and two of the highest rated players available were Swiss. With Joonas Korpisalo already in the system, the Interrail turned their attention away from the goalie position and selected Robert Karrer, a 19-year-old defensemen. Calvin Thurkauf, another Swiss-born player, was considered the top forward available at the time. They…
Munich took the first goalie in the draft and Attila Adorjan also became the first Hungarian/Romanian player in league history. Munich Red Bull GM Grant Sayle’s team has some young firepower up front with the likes of Sean Monahan, Filip Forsberg and Clayton Keller but they need a young goalie and Sayle had a few…
Prague Sparta GM Peter Ott went with a Finnish forward with the fifth pick in the draft. It was the team’s first of two picks (No. 16 is the other) in the first round. A fairly small forward, Miro Aaltonen is ready for EURO action now after stints in the KHL and Finnish leagues. There might be openings for…
Gothenburg picked Canadian Dylan Sikura and he became the first center picked by the Swedish team since it went with Adam Henrique in the first round of the league’s initial draft. General Manager Austin Dwyer would love for Sikura to turn out to be as important as Henrique has been to the franchise. Henrique has…
Swedish defenseman Jacob Moverare will play in Norway with the young and talented Oslo Outlaws. Oslo has had the unfortunate luxury of picking in the top 5 spots of the draft for the last six seasons. They have accumulated goalie Matt Murray, defensemen Viktor Antipin and Shayne Gostisbehere, center Connor McDavid and winger Tomas Hertl…
