This is the final season with Liverpool playing in the German-Slavic Division and Tallinn playing in the English Channel Division. Realignment will take place during the next off-season.
The Boss Scousers playing twice as many games against their English neighbor London? Tallinn and Helsinki crossing the Gulf of Finland six times every season to battle each other? Oh yeah, baby!
To make those natural geographic rivalry games more numerous, Minsk will also be on the move. The Hussars will be sliding into the German-Slavic Division. In other words, Minsk will replace Liverpool; Liverpool will replace Tallinn; and Tallinn will replace Minsk in their current divisions. Here’s a reminder of the relocations that preceded the realignment: Liverpool relocated from Hanover before Season 17 and Tallinn from Amsterdam for Season 18. (We are currently in Season 19).
The moves will allow Liverpool and Tallinn to save a fortune on transportation and lodging costs. Minsk won’t save much, if any, on those expenses but they will be in Bratislava more often, which puts them closer to the league’s headquarters and Director of Player Safety and Discipline Sepp Blatter.
