With the 11th pick in the draft, Helsinki followed a recipe that really paid off for them earlier this week. They selected a prospect without attributes, namely point machine Henri Jokiharju, a defenseman with the Portland Winter Hawks in the WHL and property of the Black Hawks in the NHL.
Earlier in the week, the Jokerit raked in the riches as Kyle Connor, Brock Boeser, Brandon Montour, Tyson Jost, Alex Debrincat and Adrian Kempe all earned their attributes and three of them had POs of 87 or higher, with the others scoring 83s and a 79.
Jokiharju, a 6-foot Finn from Oulu, raised his point total from 48 to 71, including 59 assists in 63 games with Portland this year. Apparently, he has at least a vague idea of how to pass a puck. By the time he eventually joins the blueline corps, it will have veteran Jokerit Nerius Alisauskas, Matthew Dumba and Montour in place.
