Jack Studnicka’s point totals with the Oshawa Generals went up from 52 to 72 in the last year and he was named captain of the team. Belfast Giants General Manager Chris Patton noticed and made the 6-1 Canadian center the 43rd player taken in the draft. Studnicka joins Brett Howden, Cal Foote and Jacob Larsson as prospects in the Giants organization. He is also in the Bruins organization in the NHL.

University of Denver freshman defenseman Ian Mitchell, an Alberta, Canada native, was then taken by Lisbon HC, making him GM Bryan Camara’s second prospect pick of the second round. Mitchell was also drafted by the Chicago Black Hawks in the NHL. He is relatively small but seems to regularly pile up assists from his point position. Lisbon lists 11 prospects, but Mitchell is the only one who plays defense.
