Before the EURO League All-Star Game, Northern Conference coach Martina Navratilova encouraged her players to take in the GM sock puppet shows, saying it would help them relieve the anxiety and glare that comes with the sport’s brightest spotlight. She was really wrong. Come game time, the players seemed sluggish and unfocused.
Coach Dominik Hasek kept the Southern Conference focus on hockey strategy and he was really right. The South won 15-5 and they even seemed to have eased off the gas pedal in the final period.
The all-time series record is now 10 wins for the Northern Conference and 7 for the Southern Conference.
A few players really stood out among the other all-stars. Connor McDavid of Helsinki was poetry in motion, figuring in on four of his team’s five goals. But he wasn’t as impressive as a couple of stars from the other side. Sebastian Aho of Bern and Max Domi of Lisbon each scored five points and Domi had a hat trick, giving him the edge and the game’s MVP Award. He was also presented with a 2025 Škoda Octavia.

Other South performers who did really well included goalie Chris Driedger of Bern, Munich’s Dylan Sikura (4 points) and Domi’s linemate in Lisbon, Spencer Smallman (4 points).
Fans in Prague’s Tipsport Arena knew the winner of the game was pretty much decided after the first 20 minutes when the South went into the dressing room with a 6-1 lead. The goal that drew the most oohs and ahhs was the South’s third, when Ethan Bear of Kosice looked up and saw Domi streaking along the left boards. He hit him with a hard pass and Domi skated in alone on Minsk goalie Attila Adorjan. Then it was a simple matter of Domi going forehand/backhand/skate-to-stick/backhand/forehand and sliding the puck past the goalie.
