EDINBURGH – Defensemen skated the fastest and forwards had the hardest shots in the All-Star Skills Competition held Saturday. And in the Most Accurate Shooter skill, defensemen finished 1-2.

This season, a Bear and a Fox were among the fastest animals in the league. Ethan Bear of Madrid placed first, outpacing Brandon Montour of Lisbon (2nd place) and Adam Fox of Gothenburg.

Auston Matthews earned a lot of oohs and aahs for his blasts that earned him a win in the Hardest Shot contest. It was the first time since Season 10 that Amsterdam’s Patrik Laine was not the champ.

And in the Accuracy Shooting skill, it was deja vu. For the second year in a row, Aaron Ekblad of Minsk finished ahead of Cale Makar of Munich and Oslo’s Connor McDavid.
