Most Accuracy Shooter
For the sixth time in 11 seasons, Erik Karlsson has claimed the Most Accurate Shooter title in the Season 11 EURO All-Star Game Skills Competition. He has also finished second once and third once, which means he has failed to make into the top 3 just 3 time in 11 seasons. On top of that, he also has a Fastest Skater (Season 2) title, and a second-place in that event (Season 1) on his resume. Wearing a Paris jersey on Saturday, Karlsson bested former teammate Nathan MacKinnon for the crown. Nail Yakupov of Prague was third.
Fastest Skater
Petr Vrana of Gothenburg proved in Season 4 that he has world-class wheels when he won the Fastest Skater title. To prove it wasn’t a fluke, he finished first again 7 years later atop the fastest field ever in the competition. Vrana was the 11th player selected in the Season 2 draft and he has twice scored 31 goals in a season. He has also proven to be an iron man. He played 82 games in each of the previous five seasons and hasn’t missed a game this year. Defenseman Robin Grossman of Athens was second and Kris Letang of Paris placed third. Letang won the crown two years ago.
Hardest Shot
The usuals in this event – Tyler Myers and Dustin Byfuglien – have lost some power and finished down the pack, while St. Petersburg’s young Finnish winger Patrik Laine drilled the hardest of the year. Laine is in his fourth season as a Krasnyye Zvezdy regular and he has scored 35 or more goals the last two seasons. Minsk defenseman Aaron Ekblad was just a little behind him and Season 9 champ Wei Yand Zhang, the Chinese Lucic, finished third.
