Thanks primarily to the salary cap, some big EURO League names have had to dig out their suitcases, pack everything, and move to new cities.

As the draft moves to the third and final round, four trades have been made in the league and all four have included big names.
London and Bern have both been involved in two trades. New Ice Lords general manager Trevor Grimm found himself saddled with many large contracts and tough decisions had to (and still have to) be made. Grimm parted with defensemen Rasmus Ristolainen and John Carlson in an attempt to shave salaries.
Bern was in the opposite situation and was able to take on $14 million in two players to immediately improve the team. Carlson will join Dmitry Kulikov on the team’s top defense pairing, while former Smurf Andrey Bykov is likely to have Patrick Kane or Mark Stone as his linemate all season.
Zurich traded 34-year-old goalie Carey Price and his $10 million salary to Helsinki. Ben Bishop was the top goalie for the Jokerit last season, but Price is considered an upgrade and general manager Jukka Tuominen won’t have to worry about negotiated with Bishop’s agent on a new contract.
Here are the trades made so far:
- Zurich traded Carey Price and Round 2 pick (Cameron York) to Helsinki for Round 1 pick (Oskar Lindblom)
- Berlin traded Andrey Bykov to Bern for Roger Karrer
- London traded Rasmus Ristolainen to Dublin for Vince Dunn and Julien Gauthier
- London traded John Carlson to Bern for Radek Faksa and Round 2 pick (Alexander Khovanov)
