Berlin 4, Geneva 1

The Generals played a wide-open style but the Smurfs beat them at their own game. Only 2 of the 12 playoff series saw no team scored fewer than 2 goals in a game and Geneva was in both of them. Berlin was just better. At least 8 Smurfs were +4 or better in the series.

Stars of the Series

• Colton Parayko, Geneva; not too many Generals had goodseries but Parayko had 3 points, blocked 9 shots and had 11 hits in the 5games.

• Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Berlin; Led the Smurfs in scoring with6 points (4 goals) and shots with an impressive 24 in 5 games.

• Ryan Murray, Berlin; quiet defenseman was +4 with a goal and 2 assists to go with 7 hits and 5 blocked shots.

Note: I will be away for the weekend and probably won’t be able to do this sort of story for the Athens-Paris series until Tuesday.
