Record Watch: Season 9

Who has a chance to set league records this season?

Already ThereLisbon tavares

  • Lisbon superstar John Tavares has 10 shorthanded goals, which ties him with what Jonathan Toews of Bratislava did in Season 3. One more Tavares shorty and Toews’ name comes off the list.

Close

  • London forward Jeff Skinner wants to be more careful with his passes over the rest of the season, because he is on pace to set the record for most giveaways. Paul Stastny set the existing record with Helsinki in Season 3.
  • If Tavares averages the same number of takeaways he has through 75 games this season, he will come one short of the takeaway record that is owned by Oslo’s Tyler Seguin (183 last season.)
  • Bratislava is averaging 6.08 penalties per game. The EURO record for Lowest PIM average is 6.06 (London, Season 8).

Long shots

  • Milan defenseman Jake Muzzin has blocked 118 pucks in 73 games, so if he can block 25 more in his last 9 games, he’ll break the record shared by Jake Gardiner of London (Season 2) and Erik Karlsson of Madrid (Season). Muzzin’s teammate Danny Dekeyser and Gothenburg’s Marc-Eduoard Vlasic also have outside chances to set the blocked shots record.
  • Athens Gods goalie Jimmy Howard has 7 shutouts and needs 2 more to tie the record that is shared by Cam Ward (Athens in Season 5) and Pekka Rinne (St. Petersburg in Season 2)
  • Belfast needs 41 goals in 7 games to tie the record Paris set in Season 4.
