A trade with Prague has reunited brothers Niclas (left) and Steffan Kronwall. Steffan was the first player taken in the EURO Draft this morning.
(From Athens Mounaki) – Ladies and Gentlemen it is with great pleasure that I sit here before you to announce a trade that has recently been finalized and approved by the league.I had mentioned in an earlier interview that heading into the draft the Athens Greeks were looking to fill a few wholes in our line up. Staffan Kronwall filled the most needs and we were happy to select him with the 1st overall pick. However we had addressed the need for a big point shot to help out powerplay. Maxim Chudinov could have been the solution to this via the draft, however we are very happy to say that the Greeks have indeed managed to acquire that big booming point shot via the trade route.
After extensive negotiations with Jory, the GM of Prague, we came to an agreement that will send Niclas Kronwall to Athens!
In exchange for this veteran offensive Dman Prague gets Athens 17th overall first round pick and veteran Dman Micheal Roszival.
We are very excited to have Nic with us. We believe that he is the perfect mentor and Defensive partner for Staffan and hope that the two of them together will create a fearsome Duo that opposing clubs will be loathe to play against.
Niclas Kronwall is signed long term and we feel that this trade shows our commitment to winning this year and for years to come. Thankfully we still have 1 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick to use in this entry draft and rest assured I will do everything I can to procure that Top tier winger that we identified early on.
(EDITOR’S NOTE: With the second selection in the draft, the Minsk Hussars selected defenseman Maxim Chudinov.)
