Morpheus, the Greek God of Dreams, made one come true in Athens this morning, as the Athens Greeks won the EURO draft lottery and jumped from fifth to first in the Season 2 draft order. Athens GM Terry Moutafis was already giddy about the fact he had 3 first round picks this year thanks to earlier trades. Athens will pick in the number 1, 13 and 17 spots, barring any other trades. Because of the lottery, Minsk, Frankfurt, Zurich and Belfast all move down one slot in the first round.
The draft may start now, but it will stop when it reaches a team without an owner (Gothenburg picks 11th). We will have to give any new owners the chance to adequately review their teams and situations before we make them make a draft pick.
In other news:
- The league has new owners in Dublin and Prague, with vacancies waiting to be filled in Gothenburg and Oslo. Thanks to Claude Bazinet and Jory Stuparyk for jumping in Sunday and this morning.
- Kari Lehtonen, goalie for the EURO Cup champion Geneva Generals, was named winner of the Playoff MVP Award. In 21 games, he had a league-best 1.91 goals against average and a .934 save percentage.
- This may not be news: Your owner is mean. He even looks mean. Go to your hockey and finance objectives on the Websim EURO League page to see what we mean. He gave you goals today that he expects you to achieve.
