Good effort keeps Copenhagen in series

The Tridents looked solid in defeating Dublin 6-4 on Wednesday, making the Irish fans nervous about getting that one more win. The Northern Conference finals now stands at 3-2 in favor of Dublin with the next game to come on Friday in Ireland. In this game, it was typically tight through the first period and 7 minutes before Derek Roy ignited a three-goal outburst that put Copenhagen in front to stay. Fyodor Tyutin and Teddy Purcell were the leaders of the Copenhagen effort. Each had a goal and two assists. Tyutin was a plus 2, Purcell plus 1. Roy (1 goal and 1 assist) and Jamie Langenbrunner (1 assist) each had 6 shots on goal. For Dublin, Ryan Kesler, Bobby Ryan and Nikita Nikitin each had two points. As always, it was Tim Thomas in goal for the Irish and Roberto Luongo guarding the Tridents net. Thomas was the busier of the two, with Copenhagen outshooting Dublin 44-25. After the game, Dublin coach Alain Vigneault announced that rugged defenseman James Wisniewski sustained a “lower body” injury and will not play the rest of the series. In 18 playoff games this season, Waz had 4 goals and 9 assists and he was a plus 8 with 42 hits and 2 shots on goal per game. With Zbynek Michael still on the mend and at about 80 percent health, Vigneault might have to call up either Jay Harrison, Aaron Johnson or Derek Smith.
