Round 1: Milan and Munich

Quick Glance:

The Red Bulls finished 10th in the standings. Not among the elite teams. But they were 4th in the league in shots per game and 5th in shots against. That’s elite territory for sure. Their opponents, Milan, had the 2nd best powerplay in the EURO and they were 4th best at killing penalties. The Guerriero were 13th overall, 5 points behind the Red Bulls. The winner of this series should be anybody’s guess.

Goalies:

  • Milan – Keith Petruzzelli, 3.90 GAA, .866 save pct.
  • Munich – Niko Hovinen, 2.76 GAA, .898 save pct.

Top Plus/Minus players:

  • Milan – Logan Couture +31
  • Munich – Alexis Vanier +25

Expert Panel Predictions:

  • Commissioner Chuck: Munich in 6 games. I love both of these teams but I really don’t think both of them are going to win this series. I think Munich has the better goaltending and I see their talent on defense making the difference. You know … Cale Makar, Alexis Vanier, Moritz Seider, etc.
  • Rose: Milan in 7 games. Milan has nice depth, especially down the middle with Aapeli Rasanen, Dominic Canic and Logan Couture. The Guerriero also have guts and can really tick off people as games go on. Matthew Tkachuk, Seth Jarvis and Alex Tuch will come up with sudden and surprising plays to send Munich into scramble mode. And the wine will flow in Italy when it’s over.
