DUBLIN, Ireland – The best hockey players in the world will show their stuff in Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day weekend for the Season 17 Euro League All-Star Game. The Northern Conference has beaten the South 10 times in the previous 15 games.

The home fans will get to cheer three of their own including Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who finished second in voting among Northern Conference defenseman. The 36-year-old Swede has scored 30 points in 39 games. And the Dublin fans will be behind their goalie Alex Nedeljkovic in the second period. He finished second to Minsk’s Attila Adorjan in the vote. And William Nylander, who is Dublin’s top scorer, will play on the North’s third line with Nathan MacKinnon of Belfast and Minsk’s Anthony Beauvillier.

In the Southern Conference voting, it was a banner year for the Zurich Lions. Not only did they get a center, a left wing and a right wing voted onto the squad, they also had three defensemen make it in Charlie McAvoy, Mikey Anderson and Quinn Hughes. In Seasons 2 and 4, Zurich placed three players on the all-star team, but those were the franchise’s best showings until this season.

Here are the two squads for the game. Players are listed in order (top to bottom) with the highest vote-getters on top. There are also four players who were added by the commissioner to make sure every team is represented.

The honorary coaches for the game will be Colm Meaney (Northern Conference) and Debra Crew (Southern Conference).

Meaney, an actor, was born in Dublin and is no stranger to special hockey games. In 1999, he played Mayor Scott Pitcher in “Mystery, Alaska” which was about a game between the local team and the New York Rangers. Coincidentally, Meaney’s wife Ines Glorian will celebrate her birthday the same day as the game and he decided to be with people like Alex Debrincat and Jacob Moverare rather than with Ines.

Crew, who is a native of Hawaii and a former U.S. Army military intelligence officer, is CEO of Diageo, the company that now owns the Guinness brand. She has also had top leadership positions with business giants Mondelez International, R.J. Reynolds, Pepsi and Mars. EURO League Director of Player Safety and Discipline Sepp Blatter negotiated the move to have her coach and he said he will get Guinness beer shipped to his home for free over the next year.
