VIENNA – One of the unique features of the EURO League is the All-Star Game and that’s what the three people in league headquarters are focused on today. Actually, Sepp Blatter said he has a meeting with some bankers today. On a Saturday. Which means Rose and Chuck will have to handle the workload. Which means Rose will be doing it all yet again.
The first order of business is deciding where this season’s game will be held. The 24 general managers get to decide that in two polls. Ten cities have not hosted an all-star game yet and the voting will include just those cities.
The host GM doesn’t get anything for hosting, but he does have to arrange the pre- and post- parties for his colleagues. Please be aware that one of the GMs from Germany (we’re not going to name names) tends to drink a lot and then he tends to sing a lot on top of tables once he’s drunk. As always, each general manager will be responsible for arranging his own travel to the host city as well as his lodging there.
To familiarize yourself with the event, here is a link to a guide that has grown to the size of Tolstoy’s “War and Peace.”
The host city polls will start today and continue with a run-off election on Monday or Tuesday.
