Prospect boys will become EURO men soon

They don’t have their Copenhagen Tridents uniforms yet, but this is how (from left) Jonathan Dahlen, Anton Lundell and Alex Newhook should look in them next season.

Copenhagen General Manager Martin Sayle will have a lousy Season 14 draft position because his team will finish near the top of the league in Season 13. But even before the draft starts, Sayle and Trident fans will feel like they just gained 3 first-round picks.

That’s because of the draft selections Sayle made in past seasons. Copenhagen prospects Anton Lundell, Jonathan Dahlen and Alex Newhook will all get their Websim attributes right about the same time the EURO Cup is awarded for this season. Based on they are doing so far this NHL season, the Tridents trio will be pretty good. Lundell of the Florida Panthers is currently 4th in scoring and 1st in plus/minus among NHL rookies. He will have an outstanding PO rating.

Here are the other top NHL rookies so far this season and the EURO teams that already own their rights:

  • Moritz Seider (Munich)
  • Lucas Raymond (St. Petersburg)
  • Trevor Zegras (Lisbon)
  • Jamie Drysdale (Edinburgh)
  • Dawson Mercer (Bern)
  • Seth Jarvis (Milan)
  • Cole Sillinger (Moscow)
  • Arthur Kaliyev (Prague)
  • Martin Fehervary (St. Petersburg)
  • Phil Tomasino (Bern)
  • Connor McMichael (Berlin)

St. Petersburg is likely to have the biggest influx of prospects with new attributes. Raymond, Fehervary, Taylor Raddysh, Rasmus Kupari and Morgan Frost should all get Krasnyye Zvezdy sweaters next season.

An interesting player to watch for the rest of the season will be Matthew Boldy of the Minnesota Wild, whose career is off to a torrid start with 14 points in 15 games. If he can keep up a good pace for 20 more games or more, the Madrid Royals will get a future superstar. But if he fails to play 35 games he won’t get his attributes. He’s kind of in the position Cole Caufield was in last season with Montreal. He started off like an all-star and Moscow Maniacs fans must have thought for sure that had a superstar on their hands. But the season came to an end and now Caufield’s attributes will be based on what he is doing this NHL season … and that is nothing special.
