Being a goalie in the Season 13 All-Star was more difficult than it was being a skater. The league’s best wanted to show off their skill and checking and playing hard-nosed defense was definitely not a priority. Still, Helsinki’s Karri Ramo and Belfast’s Alexander Salak were pretty good and the Northern Conference continued its domination of the yearly showcase game, winning 12-10. It was that conference’s 9th win to just 3 losses.

There were nearly 20 players in the game who scored 2 points or more. Four of them (Nathan MacKinnon, Nerius Alisauskas, William Nylander and Ondrej Palat) scored 4 points. Nathan MacKinnon of Belfast and Nerius Alisauskas of Helsinki started the game like they meant it and helped stake the North to a 6-1 lead after a period. By then, MacKinnon already had a hat trick and Alisauskas had scored twice and added an assist.

The Southern Conference came on strong in the final period with 7 goals on Oslo’s Matt Murray, but it was too little, too late. Berlin Smurfs accounted for 10 of the 29 points scored by Southern Conference players.
