All-Decade Teams selected

VIENNA, Austria – A decade of EURO League hockey is history and with the intention of naming an All-Decade Team, the commissioner asked Rose what she thought would be the best way of picking one. Rose is acknowledged as the only smart person in the league office.

Rose suggested turning to League Arbitor Lady Arden of Heswall, who has served as a Justice on the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, and Lady Arden accepted the challenge. She said she would assemble a list of the players who were voted to the most all-star games over the 10 seasons, look at the career stats, and ranked them in several statistical categories, including turnover ratio, blocked shots, hits and points (twice). So the list is purely math. Not a perfect way of deciding, but Lady Arden said it’s the fairest way.

“Naturally, one would place Berlin legend Erik Forssell at the top of the list at several positions, but statistics tend to divert the attention to other players,” she said. “Erik may lose our attention, but he shall never lose our affection.”

Lady Arden named named the All-Decade First Team, with four forward lines, six defensemen and two goalies. She also named a Second Team. To provide a little suspense, the commissioner decided to release the All-Decade Second Team today and the First Team on Friday.
