Sergei and Andrei Kostitsyn will go from players to coaches for a day.
MINSK, Belarus – EURO Commissioner Chuck Massaro has named the coaches for this weekend’s All-Star Game, and keeping with tradition, the choices are odd ones.
Two EURO players who are not yet retired will be behind the benches. Belarusian brothers Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn won’t have far to travel to make the game. Sergei got into 5 games for the champion Hussars this season, but he has spent most of the last two seasons playing for the Vitebsk Bears farm club, about 3-and-a-half hours by car from Minsk. Andrei is not far from his brother, staying in the family home in Novopolotsk. He is a free agent, hoping for a team to sign him to a contract.
Sergei will coach three teammates in the game as the coach of the Northern Conference team. Andrei will coach the Southern Conference team.
The rosters for both teams will be announced before 10:30 a.m. ET today.
