I have a weird idea floating inside my skull and I’m trying to get it out.
In the past, I have seen some Websimmers suggest that it would be nice if we could assign jersey numbers to the players on our teams. Jersey numbers wouldn’t affect game play; they would just be cool and add another layer of realism to the game.
But the admins have never indicated they would enact the idea, and until they do, I thought we could door a poor man’s version of the idea here in the EURO League. I don’t really have a plan to get players’ jersey numbers in front of your eyes all the time, but I can at least list rosters on a separate page in this blog and insert the occasional piece of art in stories and on the News Feed for our league. The photo inserted into this story is an example of the art I was thinking of.
Once I get the team’s basic design done, it would be a simple matter of changing the number and name and … poof! We have a new one done.
I could use some help from all of you, though. Could you submit a roster with jersey numbers assigned to all your players, including prospects? Hockey-reference.com and Google images searches can usually help you find out the player’s real life numbers. You can use Websim’s message system to send me your rosters, and if you don’t want to submit a list, I can assign the numbers for you later.
As you can see in this example, I will take it upon myself to do a basic jersey design and select the fonts.
I started the Jersey Numbers page, which is located under the “About the EURO League” tab. Here is a shortcut.
