Prague beats Paris by a goal again

Prague 4, Paris 3 (OT) – Prague is weird. First they start the season winning 8 of their first 10 games, then they forget how to play and win just 2 of the next 17 games, and now they are on a mini win streak with a win over Bratislava and two over Paris. Roman Josi scored in overtime to stun Paris for the second time in three nights. Josi set up the game’s first goal, a one-timer by Vladimir Ruzicka, who also scored Monday in Prague’s 5-4 win. Andrej Sekera had a nice game for the Wolf Pack, delivering 4 hits and blocking 4 Paris shots. Alexander Semin and Corey perry had 2 points apiece for Paris and Evgeny Malkin had 8 shots on Prague goalie Ryan Miller and got an assist to give him at least a point in 8 straight games.

Zurich 5, Dublin 2 – Drew Stafford scored the game’s first goal and added two assists to set the pace for the Lions at home against Dublin. Stafford and Jussi Jokinen worked well with Patrick Sharp as the line clicked for two goals in the second period. Sharp scored the goals while his linemates picked up a pair of helpers. Jakub Voracek has had the hottest stick blade in Zurich. He scored in the first period to make it 2-0 and his 12th goal of the season was his fifth in the last four games. For Dublin, defenseman James Wisniewski had a goal and an assist.

London 3, Milan 1 – In a close game, London put Milan on the powerplay 7 times but were able to escape 6 of those chances unscathed. Jeff Skinner was the star of the game for the Dons. He earned an assist on speedy Michael Grabner’s goal 11 seconds into the game, and then assisted on a shorthanded tally by Tyler Bozak that made it 2-1 in the second period, and then in the third, he scored the insurance goal, his 11th of the season, with 12 minutes to play. Martin Jones got the win in goal for London and Carl Gunnarsson had 5 hits for the Dons. T.J. Brennan and Tyler Johnson were probably Milan’s most noticeable players. Brennan had 4 hits and one blocked shot while Johnson led everyone in the game with 6 shots. Mathis Olimb scored for Milan, his 5th of the season.

Stockholm 3, Bratislava 2 – This Battle of the Eagles went to Stockholm decisively. The home team outshot Bratislava 37-21 and had a 3-0 lead when the third period began. Bobby Ryan, who was acquired in a trade with Dublin, scored his 14th of the season for Stockholm. The 28-year-old American looks to be on his way to his fourth 30-goal season in five seasons. His worst season was last year – his first in Sweden – when he scored 26 goals. His best was a 56-goal season in Season 2. Karl Alzner scored a goal and had 5 hits for Stockholm. Bratislava could not score 5-on-5 but got goals from Frans Nielsen and Troy Brouwer in the last period.

Moscow 7, Edinburgh 3 – Moscow had a fun 20 minutes in the second period of their game with Edinburgh. The six Bare Bear Brawler goals didn’t go over as well with the Capitals and goalie Kari Lehtonen, who didn’t see out the second the period. The BBBs scored two shorthanded goals and got two tallies from Anze Kopitar in the second period massacre. Until that period, the score was 1-1 on powerplay goals by Edinburgh’s Rick Nash and Moscow’s Jason Garrison. Kopitar and Garrison both finished with 2 goals and one assist and each had a shorthanded goal. Edinburgh’s Olivier Roland scored on both of the shots he took in the contest and he now has 8 this season.

Copenhagen 4, Geneva 2 – Geneva was outshot 13-4 in the first period but left for the dressing room with a 2-1 lead and it looked like Lady Luck was the Generals’ date for the night. But the woman is fickle and she turned on Geneva in the second period. Clarke MacArthur of Copenhagen hit the cross bar with a shot, but the puck caromed into Ondrej Pavelec’s glove as he was waving his hand backwards toward the goal line as a natural reflex. He ended up swatting it into his own net and the score was tied 2-2 after two periods. In the final period, which the Tridents entered with a 27-8 shots advantage, Lady Luck was all over Copenhagen, running her fingers through its hair. Martin Erat passed to Trident center Joe Pavelski who missed it with his stick, but deflected it with his skate through Pavelec’s legs. MacArthur made it 4-2 two minutes later with a more conventional goal: he was stationed to the side of Pavelec’s net when he took a pass from Stephen Weiss and wristed it into the open short side, hitting double figures in goals this season. MacArthur, Dougie Hamilton and Chris Higgins had multi-point nights for Copenhagen, while Davis Desharnais had a goal and an assist for the Generals.
