Bratislava dominated the first two periods and held off a furious charge by Munich in the third period Sunday to win the series and move onto the second round. Three shorthanded goals were scored in the game, one by Milan Gulas of the Eagles and two by the Fox’s Dave Bolland and Eric Gryba on the same penalty to start the Munich comeback. Marian Hossa opened the scoring 4 minutes into the game, and later in the first, Gulas and Paul Martin also tallied, but it was a Tyler Ennis goal with 4 seconds left in the period that deflated Munich the most and it ended up being the game winning goal. Bratislava outshot Munich 30-12 over the first two periods, with the Fox outshooting Bratislava 14-13 in the final period. Craig Anderson, the Eagles’ veteran goalie, came up with the saves when needed to preserve the win and the upset series victory. Bratislava will play Paris in the second round.
