Oslo forward Alexandre Burrows was named MVP of the EURO League All-Star game.
The North, coached by Russian Viktor Tikhonov, defeated the South 7-6 in the first ever EURO Hockey League All-Star Game, played this weekend in Bratislava, Slovakia.
It looked good for the Southern Conference after 20 minutes, with Mike Smith of Bern shutting out the North and his teammates staking the Southern Conference to a 2-0 lead. But Alexandre Burrows of Oslo got the Northern Conference going early in the second period with a goal against home town Bratislava’s Craig Anderson. Burrows went on to add two assists and be named MVP of the game. With that honor came a new car: a 2013 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider (pictured).
Burrows was awarded a 2013 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider.
Alfa Romeo, headquartered in Turin (Torino), Italy, is a sponsor of several EURO teams, with most of their sponsorship dollars going to the two franchises closest to Turin – Milan and Geneva.
The game was tied 6-6 in the waning minutes when Jamie Benn of Edinburgh took a Ryan Suter (Oslo) pass down the wing and slapped the puck into the far side of the goal to beat Kari Lehtonen of Geneva.
