Vote for 3 players from each conference. Do not vote for players on your own team. Write-in votes will count. Here’s a message to cut and paste to send to the commissioner. …………………………………………………………………… Commissioner, here are my votes. Position: Center Northern Conference 1st (5 points) – 2nd (3 pts.) – 3rd (1 pt.) – Southern Conference 1st (5 points) – 2nd (3…
Plans are being made for the fourth annual EURO League all-star game, an event that could be renamed the Northern Conference Showcase Series unless the Southern Conference makes up for its poor performances of the past. Season 1 in Bratislava: Final score, 7-6 North; MVP – Alexander Burrows, Oslo. Season 2 in London: Final score,…
The Oslo Outlaws should consider changing Tomas Hertl’s number from “48” to “Fragile.” No player in the league has been out of the starting lineup more often than Hertl has this season. On 10 occasions, coach Claude Julien has had to adjust the lineup because Hertl had to sit out. But Hertl has only been…
This is a continuation of a story posted Wednesday, covering the teams in places 13-24. Zurich: The Lions went from having six great forwards and possible weak links elsewhere to having 7 great forwards and a goalie who was supposed to take care of the back end for them. Key words: supposed to. Longtime Copenhagen…
As the Athens Greeks skate away from the pack, let’s use Chris Legge’s recent post as a springboard for a different story: The Underachievers. The minute-munching…
No one is happier with Gothenburg’s 16-7-1 record than Ryan Suter. The star defenceman has struggled since being acquired from Oslo during the off-season. Suter has yet to score this season & has only posted 6 assists in 22 games for the Devils, along with a -7 rating. Despite this though, the Devils continue to…
The EURO Hockey League’s Scouting Bureau is compiling a list for the Season 5 draft and three forwards, two defensemen and a goalie are jockeying for the top spot. The Bureau released its preliminary rankings* and has defenseman Viktor Antipin narrowly ahead of forward Sergei Mozyakin at the top of the list. That’s a surprise…
With Websim’s website, it’s not difficult to find out who the top goal scorer in the EURO League is today. Just go to the Stats page, click the “G” and voila! It’s Ilya Kovalchuk, Zurich’s 31-year-old sniper who has 16 goals in 18 games. Good work, Ilya. Wait, that sounds a little too familiar for…
Many, many fans say Dublin goalie Tim Thomas is too old. After watching him steal a game from Copenhagen on Wednesday, we have to ask: Too old for what? Coloring books? Dora the Explorer? Because he sure has shown he still has the skills for the EURO League against the world’s best players. On Wednesday,…
We all know things can change rapidly in hockey and in the EURO League, but suddenly everyone is asking, “Who can stop the Greeks?” Athens, which came close to its first EURO Cup Finals series last season, is the fastest out of the gates this season with 8 wins in 8 games. They will put…
